Cricket

Cricket is a sport which is played between two teams of eleven players each who score runs/points. This is done by hitting the ball across the boundary or by running between sets of three small, wooden posts called wickets. The wickets are at each end of rectangle of short grass called the pitch.

The cricket was probably created during Saxon or Norman times by children living in the weald, an area of dense woodlands and clearings in South-east England that lies across Kent and Sussex. The cricket stands for:

C: Customer Focus

R: Respect for Individual

I: Integrity

C: Community Contribution

K: Knowledge Worship

E: Entrepreneurship and Innovation

T: Teamwork Business

Cricket is mostly popular in common wealth countries. A cricket field is where cricket is played. It is a circular or oval twisted grassy ground. There is no set scope in the field. It diameter usually varies between 450ft. to 500ft. Cricket is one of many games in the ‘club ball’ sphere that fundamentally absorb hitting ball with a hand-held employ. In crickets case a key distinction is the survival of a solid target structure, the wicket that the batman must defend. The cricket historian Harry Alyham recognized three groups of club ball games.

The aim of cricket is basically a simple game-score more than the opposition. Two teams, both with 11 players, take it in turns to bat and bowl. When one team is batting, they try and score as many runs as they can by hitting the ball around an oval field. Recently Tendulkar played 664 international cricket matches in total, scoring 34,357 runs. In 2019, Tendulkar was inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. There are three types of cricket game. The shortest and the fastest game are called ‘Twenty 20’, and lasts 20 over’s per team. A full game usually takes about 2.5 hours. The medium length game is called ‘test Match’ and lasts for a maximum 5 days. A test match usually starts at 11:00AM and finishes at 18:00pm with a 40 minute launch break at 13:00 and 20 minute tea break at 15:40.90 over are expected to be bowled during the days play.
